– Use drones to identify the overall situation and risk areas when large crowds gather, such as large events

– Monitoring of illegal activities in ecological parks and fire prevention with high-performance drones

– Prevention of safety accidents in dangerous areas along the shore by introducing an automatic warning system

□ The Seoul Han River Project Headquarters announced that it would prevent various accidents in advance and protect the safety of citizens using high-performance drones using automatic route flight and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

□ This year, as large-scale events are expected to be held in earnest after COVID-19, there is a need for thorough safety management to quickly grasp the overall situation and risk areas during the event.

□ Also, in the case of ecological parks and wetlands in Hangang Park, it is difficult to patrol on foot, and in the case of shorelines with a high risk of accidents, it is difficult to install CCTV or there are blind spots, so safety accident prevention is limited.

□ Accordingly, the Han River Project Headquarters in Seoul conducts patrols using various drones to enhance safety in crowded areas, areas vulnerable to pedestrian patrols, and dangerous areas along the shoreline.

○ The Han River Project Headquarters plans to implement drone patrols in dangerous areas of the Han River in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and private drone specialized companies Quaternion and Dromi.

□ In case of large-scale events such as 'Fireworks Festival', mobile drones are used to quickly grasp the situation on the spot, and accident prevention monitoring is planned through high-performance drones in ecological parks and shoreside dangerous areas where patrols are commissioned.

○ Drone patrol for safety management of large crowds at large events

– Large-scale events with more than XNUMX people, such as the Jamsu Bridge Festival and Fireworks Festival

– Identify the event venue and surroundings, citizen traffic lines and crowded sections, etc.

○ Ecological park fire and illegal act prevention drone patrol

– Gangseo Wetland Ecological Park, Amsa Ecological Park operated twice a week

– Illegal fishing and gathering monitoring, monitoring of risk factors such as fire

○ Drone patrol to prevent accidents in dangerous areas along shorelines

– Operated twice a week in the Yeouido shore area with many citizens

– Identification of pedestrian accidents and dangerous behaviors, implementation of an automatic warning system when anomalies are detected

※ Operation and monitoring of drones by Han River Mobile Patrol Team and Quaternion Co., Ltd.

□ In particular, in ecological parks and Yeouido shoreline patrol drones, enter flight routes in advance to operate automatic route flight, and use sensor data-based artificial intelligence (AI) object recognition technology (AI open data + empirical data learning) to detect anomalies. An automatic warning system is in the works. In addition, the captured video is planned to be monitored in real time by connecting it to the mobile patrol team's office computer (PC).

□ These drone patrols are planned to be implemented from April for large events, from May for Gangseo Wetland Ecological Park and Amsa Ecological Park, and from June for Yeouido shoreline.

□ Joo Yong-tae, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Hangang Project Headquarters, said, “This year, after COVID-19, we expect many people to gather for various events. We will ensure the safety of citizens through rapid response using drones, and we will do our utmost to prevent safety accidents by using drones with cutting-edge technology in vulnerable and dangerous areas for foot patrols.”
