Chungcheongnam-do is conducting illegal parking guidance and crime prevention patrol activities using self-driving cars in Naepo New Town for the first time in the country.
In addition, in the Hongye Park area, a self-driving car ride experience service is provided for the citizens of the province.
The provincial government announced on the 14.5nd that 7 km of roads in Naepo New City have been designated as pilot operation districts for self-driving cars along with 22 nationwide.
This pilot zone is designated by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport as a zone that applies various regulatory exceptions to promote autonomous vehicle research and pilot operation.
The province applied for the designation of a pilot operation district to prepare for a shift in the future mobility paradigm, develop the local economy in connection with industry, and promote specialized service projects in Chungcheongnam-do.
Following this selection, the province will promote three services using self-driving cars from the second half of the year, including △illegal parking guidance △crime prevention patrol △PR and boarding experience.
The nation's first self-driving vehicle illegal parking guidance and crime prevention patrol will be operated for 8 months from August to the end of 2024.
1 to 1 security guards ride in a car equipped with autonomous driving function and necessary equipment for illegal parking guidance and crime prevention patrol, and operates on a set route during the daytime (2:10 am - 5:8 pm) and night time (10 - XNUMX:XNUMX pm). The routes for illegal parking guidance are the Provincial Office Intersection, Red Cross Intersection, Library Intersection, and Hongseong High Intersection, and are expected to contribute to improving the road environment around major government offices and central shopping districts in Naepo New City and improving residents' awareness of traffic order.
