□ 'The 4th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism (hereafter referred to as the Seoul Biennale)', which discusses the vision of a sustainable future city, is gearing up for final preparations ahead of its opening 20 days away.

 

□ The Seoul Metropolitan Government released the theme of each exhibition in advance on the 8th (Monday) and a total of 7 curators who participated in the planning of the exhibition, led by architect Cho Byung-soo, the general director of the Seoul Biennale.

○ The Seoul Biennale is an international event hosted by Seoul that contemplates various solutions to urban problems and exchanges culture with cities around the world in the field of architecture. This year, it was held for a total of 9.1 days from September 10.29 (Fri) to October 59 (Sun) under the theme of 'The City of Earth, the Architecture of Earth: A City of Mountain Roads, Waterways, and Windways, Drawing Seoul's 100 Years Later' Songhyeon Green Plaza, Seoul It is held at the Urban Architecture Exhibition Hall and the Citizens' Hall of Seoul City Hall.

○ Under the theme of 'City of Land, Architecture of Land', general director Byeong-Soo Cho and Professor Eui-Young Chun of the Department of Architecture at Kyonggi University, who serves as the president of the Korean Institute of Architects, jointly curate the exhibition. Introducing various discourses and projects related to It consists of an experiential theme pavilion (Haneulso, Landso) in the open Songhyeon Green Plaza for citizens and an exhibition for experts that contains research on the future of Seoul in 2050 through the interactive platform of the Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture.

○ The Seoul 100 Year Master Plan Exhibition, titled <Seoul Green Network>, introduces master plans for each type of eco-friendly, high-density city of Seoul 100 years from now. According to the curation of general director Byung-Soo Cho, Seoul's green network expansion potential was gathered to prepare indicators for a greening city in the future. Master plans by type of 40 teams selected through an international competition and various research achievements of 14 teams of invited artists, including Snohetta, MVRDV, Cho Min-seok, and Francisco Leyva, winners of prominent domestic and international architectural awards, will be exhibited.

○ Open House CEO Lim Jin-young and Yonsei University Department of Architectural Engineering Professor Sang-Hoon Yeom are co-curators of the guest city exhibition, under the theme of <Parallel Grounds>, ​​which showcases major public projects in cities through cases of high density and multi-layered urban spaces around the world. This is an introductory exhibition. It introduces projects from 29 cities around the world, including Hamburg, Germany, New York, USA, and Basel, Switzerland, as well as major public projects in cities in which foreign architecture award winners such as Dominique Perrault, Jürgen Meyer, and Herzog & de Meuron participated.

○ Bridging the Megacity, a global studio curated by Professor Lief Høgfeldt Hansan of Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark, is participated by 31 domestic and foreign universities. It is implemented in the form of videos and images of participating university students in the lower space of Songhyeon Green Plaza Skylark, which was opened as a research exhibition of eco-friendly Han River bridges and world-friendly megacities related to the pedestrian-centered future Seoul master plan.

○ The field project exhibition <Experiential Node: Collected Senses> presents architectural and sensory devices to recognize the sense of place of the open Songhyeon Green Plaza, providing citizens with an opportunity to understand and experience the theme of the Seoul Biennale in an easy and fun way. Kim Sa-ra, CEO of Diagonal Arts Architects, served as the curator for the on-site project exhibition, in which artists from various nationalities participated, including Kimchi & Chips, Plastik Fantastic, and Pejo von Eriksausen.

 

□ The 4th Seoul Biennale will be held as free exhibitions, and various related exhibitions and events such as the 15th Seoul Architecture Festival, the 15th Seoul International Architecture Film Festival, Metabus exhibition, and various citizen participation programs will also be held.

○ Each exhibition and program will be held at Open Songhyeon Green Plaza, Seoul Hall of Urbanism and Architecture, Seoul City Hall Citizens Hall, and Seoul Plaza.
