□ The Urban Convergence Special Zone Act, which could be a signal for the development of Daejeon's original downtown and subway area, passed the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 2th, two years after its proposal.

 

ㅇ The Special Urban Convergence Zone Act is a law that provides the basis for implementing the Special Urban Convergence Zone development project, which is a high-density complex innovative space that combines innovative industries, housing, and cultural facilities preferred by young people in the stagnant original downtown and subway areas.

 

ㅇ In preparation for the enactment of the Special Urban Convergence Zone Act, Daejeon City established the 'Innovation Plug-In Platform' last April to spread and connect innovations in the Daejeon-Chungcheong area and nationwide by combining cutting-edge knowledge, technology, and culture. In this direction, the basic plan for the Daejeon Urban Convergence Special Zone has been preemptively established and related procedures such as approval are scheduled to begin following the passage of the law.

 

ㅇ In accordance with the basic plan, a cross-ministerial project contest is currently being actively promoted, including the selection of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport contest for a futuristic transfer center that will install UAM (Urban Air Mobility) and transportation transfer facilities at Daejeon Station.

 

 

□ Recently, Daejeon City is concretizing the core projects of the special urban convergence zone.

 

ㅇ First of all, the construction of a luxury landmark is being promoted in earnest in the area of ​​the railway supply warehouse in Daejeon Station's East Square, which was relocated to Shinan Historical Park. The luxury landmark is a high-density mixed-use development housing public institutions, business facilities, and transfer facilities in preparation for the relocation to the innovative city. Through the project materialization service, a detailed blueprint including business method and construction scale will be presented in 2024, and the construction of the luxury landmark will be completed in 2030. Is expected.

 

 

ㅇ In addition, Daejeon City actively recommends to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport various measures, such as simultaneous establishment and approval of the basic plan and implementation plan, for administrative procedures to be carried out after the first half of next year (the scheduled enforcement date of the law) to reduce the time required to implement administrative procedures. It is expected that the project will be promoted so that there are no delays.

 

 

□ Park Pil-woo, Director of Daejeon City's Urban Housing Bureau, said, "Starting in 2024, we will carry out the basic and implementation plan approval procedures, including the construction of luxury landmarks in the Daejeon Station area, without a hitch, and promote visible projects starting in 2025 to grow the region to vitalize the original downtown and Daejeon Station area. “We will establish it as a base,” he said.
