Sejong Special Self-Governing City (Mayor Choi Min-ho) and the National Agency for Administrative City Construction (Director Kim Hyeong-ryeol) are establishing a smart city plan to be operated by 2029 with the goal of building an intelligent city that is convenient for citizens.

The city announced that it held a 'Smart City Plan Establishment Service Commencement Reporting Meeting' at the Courtyard by Marriott Sejong on the 1st, with Sejong City Future Strategy Headquarters Director Ko Seong-jin and NAACC Urban Planning Director Kim Hong-rak in attendance.

This service is being carried out with the goal of establishing a systematic and efficient smart city plan to build an intelligent city that combines Sejong City's customized specialized strategies and future cutting-edge technologies.

The smart city plan is a statutory plan under Article 8 of the Smart City Act, and the city plans to establish smart infrastructure standards to be applied throughout the city through the establishment of a systematic plan that reflects the city administration's vision.

The launch briefing on this day was an opportunity to discuss research promotion plans, including ▲Sejong City's basic direction for an intelligent city, ▲smart infrastructure standards, and ▲methods for deriving a customized specialized service model based on the smart city construction project promotion system.

Next, opinions were shared on the direction of research services to improve the quality of life of citizens, such as discovering new growth engines based on future industries, strengthening competitiveness in the 4th industry, and solving urban problems by applying smart technology.

Through this research project, the city plans to establish a smart city plan that will be operated until 2029, discover policy projects in the smart field, and actively participate in national government-funded public contest projects by central ministries.

Ko Seong-jin, head of the Future Strategy Division, said, “This service is being promoted to complete the blueprint for a Sejong-type future city by actively reflecting citizens’ opinions.” He added, “In particular, based on this, we will build a smart city by 2029 and raise its status as a leading smart city.” “I will work hard to get out,” he said.

Meanwhile, on June 6, the city and NAACC signed an agreement to jointly establish a smart city plan to consistently promote smart city creation projects across Sejong City, including the planned area.
