Gyeongsangbuk-do held a launch ceremony for the ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Digital Transformation Committee’ at Hwabaekdang in the provincial office on December 15 and announced the ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Digital Transformation Basic Plan’.

About 60 people attended the launch ceremony, including Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo, co-chairman of the committee, Kwak Ho-sang, President of Geumoh National Institute of Technology, committee members*, and officials of the digital transformation private consultative body.

The committee was newly established based on the “Gyeongsangbuk-do Digital Transformation and Virtual Convergence Economy Activation Ordinance” enacted last November. The term of office of members is two years and is responsible for deliberation and advisory roles on the Gyeongsangbuk-do digital transformation basic plan and implementation plan.

The launch ceremony was held with the presentation of appointment letters to members and the announcement of the “Gyeongsangbuk-do Digital Transformation Basic Plan.”

The basic plan has been under the slogan “Digital World!” for about six months since the announcement of the “Basic Plan for Digital Transformation in Gyeongsangbuk-do” in May. With the vision of “Gyeongsangbuk-do,” four major implementation strategies, 5 detailed tasks, and a scale of KRW 6 trillion were established, reflecting conditions and policy changes.

The four major implementation strategies and major detailed tasks of the digital transformation basic plan are as follows.

The first strategy is to build a Gyeongbuk-type digital infrastructure.. We will create core digital industry infrastructure such as a Gyeongbuk-type cloud data center, a global data center campus linked to a land-based country, and a metaverse data center, as well as a manufacturing industry artificial intelligence (AI) expansion cluster.

The second strategy is to create a digital ecosystem.. We plan to expand the designation of software industry promotion institutions, establish a digital media innovation hub to realize the ‘Metaverse Capital of Gyeongbuk’ and lay the foundation for entering the global market, establish a content research institute, and designate a Metaverse regulation-free special zone.

In addition, a high-density electronic map and digital twin land management platform will be established to resolve local issues.

The third strategy is to expand digital new value creation services.. We build a live campus with cutting-edge industrial digital transformation and operate an industry-academic-research-government collaboration support center. To improve the competitiveness of the industrial complex, we upgrade the Metaverse industrial complex based on an energy platform and 5G specialized network, and conduct environmental, social, and transparent management (ESG). ) Promote industrial complex.

We will also build a root industry extended reality (XR) demonstration service that enhances the digital level of manufacturing sites, a Metaverse Eyewear Device Center, and an ultra-high-performance accelerator data platform.

We strengthen the self-reliance of small business owners through the food tech-based K-Kitchen project, support for smart solutions for small business owners, and digital traditional markets.

Establishment of the World Cultural Heritage Promotion Agency, which manages world cultural heritage using three-dimensional (3D) data, expansion of a future state-of-the-art storage system for national studies materials, future technology convergence content cluster, realistic media art exhibition hall, wellness medical tourism convergence cluster, and expansion of smart tourism bases. Promote regional growth of culture and tourism industries through .

Accessibility to social welfare is improved through the Metaverse Daycare Center and Senior Center Project, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Children's Rehabilitation Device Demonstration Center, and the Gyeongbuk-type Digital Training Center for the Disabled.

In the field of safety and environment, we are also proactive in protecting the lives and property of residents by building a smart city, integrated disaster information infrastructure, and an artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart prevention system platform.

In the field of farming, fishing and mountain villages, we will increase the global competitiveness of future agriculture by creating a regionally specialized rental smart complex in connection with the ‘great transformation of agriculture’, creating a digital innovation agricultural town, and introducing a robot-based logistics automation system.

We cultivate global software (SW) talent through École Gyeongsan, Apple Developer Academy, and Glocal University, and establish a Digital Meister High School, Metaverse Academy, and Metaverse Advanced Academy to train full-cycle metaverse personnel.

We foster practical talent tailored to the company by establishing a joint training center for cutting-edge fields and industrial transition and operating a robot job innovation center.

We implement rapid administrative services through digital ID cards, and analyze policy evaluation and investment effects through a population-industry integrated platform. K-Digital Platform·Software (SW) Future Fill will also bridge the digital gap among residents.

The final strategy is to create digital leadership and establish governance..

The ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Digital Transformation Committee’ serves as the province’s digital policy control tower and operates an alliance involving city, county, industry, academia, research, and government to create a private-led digital transformation culture.

In order to effectively carry out detailed tasks, Gyeongbuk Province shares roles with related organizations such as the Gyeongbuk Digital Transformation Support Group and the Industrial Digital Transformation (DX) Collaboration Support Center to specify project planning and commercialization procedures and conduct preliminary evaluation screening and thorough monitoring. A project evaluation and feedback system will also be established.

At the event, co-chairman Kwak Ho-sang, president of Geumoh National Institute of Technology, said, “Digital has already permeated all of the daily lives of residents regardless of the user’s intention, and depending on their ability to utilize it, it is even affecting the income gap in economic activities and the quality of life. “He said, “We will become a private-led committee in name and reality that will carefully examine the many projects promoted by Gyeongbuk Province and local issues.”

Lee Cheol-woo, governor of North Gyeongsang Province, said, “We, humanity, are facing a huge change in the history of civilization called digital. “The younger generation now has different DNA from birth,” he said, adding, “In order to resolve conflicts between generations and regions and for Korea to prosper, digital innovation in local areas comes first, and Gyeongbuk will stand at the center of it.”
