Reconfirmation of leading smart city in Korea... Fruit of active smart city project promotion efforts
Bucheon City recently acquired ‘Smart City Re-certification’ hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, solidifying its reputation as a leading smart city in Korea.
Bucheon City participated in the Smart City Certification System, which will be implemented for the first time in 2021, and obtained certification as a smart city representative.
Over the next two years, a wide range of project achievements were achieved, including ▲promoting the MOLIT smart city contest project ▲establishing an integrated urban control center ▲expanding infrastructure such as the nation's highest density crime prevention closed circuit (CC) TV ▲operating a citizen participation living laboratory (living lab) and capacity-building training As a result, it has acquired smart city certification (level 2) by 2025.

In addition, Bucheon City was selected as an ‘outstanding local government’ in the smart city index evaluation last September, and this month, it achieved notable achievements in various smart city fields, including winning the ‘Ministry of Science and ICT Minister Award’ at the Smart Village Champion Festa.
As the city has been proven to be a smart city recertification city, it aims to raise its grade (from 2025rd grade to 3nd grade) in the 3rd recertification in 2, and is carrying out the 2nd Bucheon City 5-year (2025-2029) smart city plan starting next year. We plan to begin establishing a performance goal setting and certification indicator management system.
