Saudi Arabia's AlUla Royal Commission plans to visit Seongnam City in the first half of this year to discuss business
Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) recently held a video conference with Saudi Arabia's Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), which could be used as a reference for the smart city construction project being promoted by RCU in the AlUla region located in northwest Saudi Arabia. It was announced on the 20th that the case of Seongnam City was discussed.
In a video conference held at the request of Saudi Abaria RCU, the city explained the smart city projects it has been building and promoting, citing best practices in each field, including transportation, safety and welfare, environment, economy and culture, administration, and infrastructure.
Representative examples include ▲urban drone delivery demonstration project ▲heat map construction using drones and 3D data construction project for underground facilities ▲intelligent transportation system construction (ITS) ▲ultra-scale network construction and core based on AIoT (Intelligent Internet of Things) technology Technology demonstration service ▲About 10 projects were introduced in detail, including a digital-based facility safety management system that builds a safety management big data platform.
Accordingly, RCU said that it would like to benchmark Seongnam City's case as an exemplary case for building a smart city in Saudi Arabia and that it would like to visit Seongnam City in the first half of this year to discuss specific cooperation plans.
The city announced that the department in charge is discussing a specific schedule with RCU regarding the visit to Seongnam City in the first half of this year.
As Seongnam City was selected as the 2023 drone demonstration city construction business by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, the city delegation, including Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin, participated in the '2023 Smart City Expo World Congress' held in Barcelona, Spain last November. This meeting was held because an RCU official who visited Seongnam Hall, the publicity booth at the time, highly evaluated the status of Seongnam City's smart city promotion.
Mayor Shin said, “Smart city technology is one of Seongnam City’s core strategic projects toward becoming a special city for the 4th industrial revolution, and this is the result of Saudi Arabia recognizing our city’s technology and experience.” He added, “It is hoped that Seongnam-type smart city construction technology will be realized in overseas cities.” “We will make active efforts to make it happen,” he said.
Meanwhile, RCU is located in northwest Saudi Arabia and is an institution established by royal decree in July 2017 to preserve and develop the AlUla region, which has excellent natural and cultural traditions.
